One of the hardest parts of growing a business is the many transitional periods that you will find yourself moving through. At the start you have to wear every hat possible and attempt to learn many new skills. You often muddle through, improvise and sometimes perhaps even ignore them hoping they will go away. ( mine was social media and blogging perhaps you could tell me if I am getting “there” yet)
The next stage is when you simply, run out of hours and days in the week to do it all. Sadly for many business owners at this point their business has been built on those ‘muddle through’ systems, which leave your business on rocky foundations. The whole thing takes longer to administer and it makes it almost impossible to hand over to anyone else. Primarily because the information is generally in the owner’s head or in some “unique” filing system only they can understand.
Whether you are a small business owner or a manager within a bigger organisation. The issue is the same. If we don’t start with a bigger plan in mind then our organisational and admin systems rarely can cope with the increased workload.

I know that I had no idea until I started working with Mark, but there are other ways like using Hootesuite for twitter, linked in and facebook updates. The solutions are often so simple but it is a case of what you don’t know you don’t know. But it is often a case that we need to take time off the hamster wheel in order to gain clarity focus and direction. That is why I love the Power Groups. Business owners spend 4 hours per month with peers and are able to take a break from the hamster wheel, finding their own solutions and able to share hints and tips with each other.
I know it is scary to stop in case the money does not keep coming in. but there is a limit to how long you can keep going before your own performance and effectiveness starts to reduce due to the work load. More mistakes begin to be made and before you know it your customer services despite your best attempts finally suffers or maybe you keep it going in the business but your home life is non-existent.
Either way, this cannot continue if you want your business to move up a notch.
