Every time I network I meet someone new and often learn something new as well. It is not always that these connections turn into profit but are they profitable, most certainly. By really listening I can help others gain clarity focus and direction. With that we soon begin to realise what connects us, what makes us similar or even different. I love what I do, however I am always learning I don’t think in business you ever “get there” it is a continuous journey. Every time I listen to someone I learn something new about them and myself, this knowledge become the foundations of the relationship. But what I love is what my clients teach me about myself by simply listening to them. They remind me and teach me things that ensure that my business stays profitable.
Take Kieren Williamson of Assists whom I met at the “Stop Fooling Around Event” on the 1st April. He then attended The Listening Post last Friday as a guest of one of my clients Jackie Wright of Utility Warehouse. As I listened to him he said “he was systems and IT and I was people and we were different ends of the scales.” He wanted to hear some words of wisdom. But you see as he sat in my room and shared that he liked to build relationships with ethical companies. That those relationships may be profitable and they may be valuable and they were different. I realised that we not only had a lot in common but also I had found the missing word from my strap line. Step by Step Listening …Helping you build profitable and valuable business relationships. Thank you Kieren. I look forward to learning more about Cloud Computing.
What did you learn this week simply by listening?
What have you heard this week that has made a difference?
Have you heard something that has set your mind off in a spin, not knowing now what to do for the best? ( if yes check out Friday post What not to listen too)
Thank you for Listening
