How well do you really know your husband?


You may be thinking, what has this got to do with building relationships in business. I can assure you it has everything to do with business. For 2 years I have worked hard as a sole trader often envied by others because I have always had a PA to hand.

So imagine my fascination when my husband was made redundant and found himself with enough time to look at the admin behind the scenes of Step by Step Listening.

As Mark started to work with my systems he began to understand what I was doing and started building and creating more efficient systems. I had no idea that he could do those kind of things with an Excel sheet. We now have a system that will “automatically produce a month end statement for my clients”. No more cut and paste and save as PDF for me yeah

What you don’t know you don’t know.

Mark has created an extra day per week already by making my current systems more effective.

If you could have an extra day per month what would happen next?

 We are presently designing systems that save time when we :

  • raise an invoice (no more cut and paste)
  • follow-up leads and clients.
  • work out who refers the most business to us
  • which networking group is the most profitable
  • where my greatest income comes from
  • where my expenditure could be cut or reduced

The exciting thing is that had he worked for the company and developed these systems in 2008 then I could have either done with out a PA for longer and/or I would have only needed to employ them for half the hours.

One thing about outsourcing is that you waste time energy and money if you don’t invest in creating systems with them at the beginning or prior to taking them on. With systems in place it means that they can pick up and use them fast and effectively. Ensuring you are able to make the most of the time and money you invest in them.

Without systems it can take up to 3 months to feel the benefit of outsourcing. Whereas systems can have an instant benefit and will make outsourcing in the future so much more effective.
