Are you in the habit of giving away too much for free?


For any business to succeed it has to be credible and viable.

What kind of credible is that? Credible is your reputation which is built and established over time. Many of the people I work with are new in business, and they often fail to transfer the skills and their reputation from their past experience. They can often start feeling like they have not credible or have a reputation yet.

What needs to happen for credible to happen?

1. You can pull on your past experience and build your reputations from past testimonials and experience. By noticing your strengths skills and experience you already have you can build your own confidence and therefore the confidence others will have in you.

2.Do some work for free, collect testimonials and case studies.Which also helps you build your own confidence and therefore the confidence others will have in you.

I made the mistake as many do that I gave away too much for free, often reducing my prices. I know now that was due to my lack of confidence.

What is happening for you right now in your business?

What happens to your reputation ?

What happens to the business and you being credible?

What happens to business being viable?

How will you know when too much is for free?

The common tell,tell signs are that you are working very long hours and the financial reward is not reflecting the amount of work. You will get plenty of other kinds of rewards like experience, self-worth, self belief etc and they are all valuable when building a business. But the business will not be sustainable with out profit, nor will you.
What determines when you have done enough free work to build a reputation and your credibility?

Viable

For a business to be viable you have to physically be able to deliver what you promise,in terms of standard, quality and time. Plus earn the kind of income you need/want
It is so easy when first in business to take anyone and everyone as clients. Over time you then start to realise the kind of clients that would suit you and the business best. When you reach this point not only does it become easier for you it also becomes easier for others to find clients for you.
